A List of 18+ Great Jobs for College Students

If you’re in college and want to know a list of jobs for college students that are great options while you’re working toward your degree, here you will find an awesome list of jobs for college students.

List of jobs for college students

There are two different options for a college student to take when looking at this list of college jobs.

Option one, if you have no idea what direction you are in your career, consider finding a job where you might be exposed to eye-opening options that will pave a way for your future.

Looking for a mentor is also a good idea because a lot of times you’re around people that have had a lot of experiences to share with you.

Here is another option if you know exactly what you want to do for your career. Find something around your schedule is a great option because you are more than likely taking hours of classes each day.

Either way, this list of jobs for college students will suffice for both options! Fresh out of high school, I worked as a teachers aide for the school district and took 18 units each semester. I was determined to get my degree but had to keep my bills low enough to pay for the necessities and live on my own.

One of these options in this list of jobs for college students will work great for any college student working toward their degree!

The Best List of Jobs for College Students

On-Campus Job

Many times there are options for college students to actually work on their college campus. The options may include working in the admissions office, bookstore, library, financial aid office, and more! Check out jobs on your college website by typing in “jobs for college students at (your college).”

You can also go to your admissions or career center and ask where you might be able to apply for jobs on campus.

This is a great way to know your resources as a student and learn customer service.

Tutor

If you are great at a specific subject such as math, English, science, Chemistry, Anatomy, economics, or whatever you know you do really well, check out jobs at your on campus tutoring center.

Students really need a great tutor! Oftentimes, you get around minimum wage but it is definitely convenient if you live on-campus. You can go to school all day and then tutor for a few days a week or tutor all day and go to school at night.

Obviously, they will work with your schedule because your a college student on campus. What a win, win.

Care.com

Assuming you like helping others, whether that is the elderly, children, or want to keep animals company, look into checking out job options on Care.com! This site is amazing, you simply upload your resume, personal details and apply for jobs.

If others see that you are a good fit, you can have an interview and begin working with your preferred option.

Dog Walker

If you absolutely love and adore pets been a dog walker or caring for pets may be the right position for you.

Many college students say this being a dog walker is awesome because you usually have a set up of what the dogs need and get paid a pretty good rate for the hour (usually people want someone who loves animals and can love theirs just as much as they do).

This is a great side gig as your customers will usually tell you the times that they need you to work and assume that you love and can care for pets just as they would care for their own pet.

This can potentially be someone who is quite busy with their work but loves their animals.

Nanny/ Babysitter

If you love being around kids and can have a lot of patience to work with one to five children at a time, consider being a babysitter. Each family is different and will have different needs and desires, so tailor your resume for a way that can show how you can relate and help the family watch over their children.

Building trust with the parents will be important, after all, you could watch their children a few times a week, every weekend or every day. Be mindful of your responsibility, and make sure that this is something you would have the energy to do.

Caregiver

If you love helping others, consider being a caregiver. Many times a caregiver carries the responsibility of helping out elder continue to live independently.

As a caregiver, you may find yourself grocery shopping, paying bills, making meals, and cleaning homes.

Housekeeper

If you want an independent position and still be able to schedule your work around the school then consider being a housekeeper.

Most of the time housekeepers need to be able to have their supplies and be able to have created a schedule to continue working with clients on care.com. If you work as a housekeeper, you may be able to work for 1 to 10 people while in college so that you can have the schedule that you want and go to school at the times that you want to.

Fiver

Have you ever heard of Fiverr? It’s the coolest app ever with different freelance options and would be perfect for a busy college student!

If you have a cool talent and want to make money doing it, you should sell your products and services on fiver! What better way to go to college and start a side business doing what you love.

Fiverr’s freelance community consists of graphic designers, website and digit developers, writers, video editors, musicians, voiceover artists, social media maker’s and more. It’s a great way to bring in income and make money from skills that you already have!

Amazon, UPS, Starbucks

Ever wanted to work part-time and have a company help pay for your college tuition? These companies have education assistance programs that you can take advantage of while obtaining your degree.

What better way to save money or even use it towards something else?! These companies have institution partnerships, and if your college or university is partnered with them you are in luck!

You can work for their company while they pay you way through college tuition. You can either work in a warehouse, making coffee, or sending out packages to have your tuition paid.

This is a great way to avoid debt and avoid large student loans!

Door Dash or Insta Cart

Ever thought of being your own boss and picking the times when you work?! This is a safe way to do just that. You can work 10, 20, 30, or more hours a week!

Another awesome thing about these companies is that you get tips too! In college, that’s extra gas money, grocery money, or fun money.

People are making good livings doing these jobs and are simply picking up food working for door dash or packing and/or delivering someone’s groceries to their home.

If you want to be your own boss, this is a great way to do it!

Behavior Interventionist

If you want another job option working with children, you can usually find part-time jobs as a behavior interventionist that will work around your school schedule. With this opportunity, you can look for mentors or people that may be able to direct you into a field that you could enjoy.

Many behavior interventionists work alone and go into family’s homes. They have the freedom of working with a list. They go into homes at different times of the day or in the evening.

This is usually a part-time gig that works well for college students to choose times around their school schedule.

Many parents are very grateful for behavior interventionists. You teach children a lot of skills that are helpful for the parents in their home and help the children to be able to use those skills while in school.

A lot of behavior interventionists that I know become very close to the children that they work with as well as the families. This is another job that can lead to a possible career moving forward!

Edjoin.com

School District Position

If you haven’t had a job working for the schools, consider working for a school district in your area. Give them a call and ask if they are hiring. They have positions usually listed on edjoin.com, or you can go to the actual district.

Try to apply in May or over Summer before the next school year. You’ll also need to be fingerprinted by a place that the district has listed.

They have a lot of awesome positions, and this will be a great way to seek out a mentor and get exposure to some jobs that you didn’t even know existed for your future career.

Anyone who works for the schools will tell you that there are awesome perks. Some of the perks are paid time off, benefits, spring break, summer break, and winter break! After a long school year, this was my favorite perk of working for the schools!

Teacher’s Aide/ Paraprofessional

One awesome job that forever changed my future was being a teacher’s aide. I got to work in a classroom, help students learn, and be a teacher’s aide. Another name for this position is a paraprofessional.

You’ll get the chance to work with students of all ages and meet some amazing students. I realized that I loved helping kids learn as a teacher’s aide, and then I got my master’s degree in school psychology.

I met some mentors and currently continue to help students! What I thought was a job became a career and forever changed my future with one of the most rewarding careers ever.

Have you ever read “Get Up or Give Up” by Michael Bonner? He shares his personal story of how his future changed. Michael was inspired by a college professor to start teaching and met some mentors along the way. His story is quite inspiring as he had dreams of playing in the NBA to working as a school teacher.

Host/ Hostess

Another way to gain great customer service skills! This is a great position for college students. The managers usually work well with those in college and like to see you succeed.

When I worked two separate jobs, I worked as a hostess on the weekends, and the tips were always exciting. I used them for extra gas and fun money!

Side note, some restaurants give you half off as a hostess, and if you work in the back you usually get to try lots of food.

Working in the food industry was another fun favorite!

Real Estate Agent

A real estate agent position is super cool. You get to meet many people and could turn it into a career if you wanted. Most positions are part-time, and it does take time to build clientele, but usually, you get a good lump sum of money at a time.

There may be other positions that interest you to either own your own business one day or to do other things within the field that you didn’t know were possible.

Some real estate firms may want you to work full-time, and other agencies may let you pick your schedule. Either way, you can go to school in the evenings or create a schedule that does not interfere with a full-time school schedule.

Gym Receptionist

If you like to work out and want to be around a lot of young adults this is a fun position. You get to greet people as they walk into the gym and make phone calls or schedule appointments.

Most positions are part-time, and a lot of college students seem to enjoy it!

This is such a fun list of jobs for college students that you might enjoy! Find an option that will work for you while obtaining your degree.

Keep your options open and find the best college job that is right for you!
